What has gone on before: Twit Trek Summary

This is a quick summary of the first part of the current Twit story - a Star Trek 'fan fic twit' ..or 'fan twit'?

The U.S.S. Albion, a Federation science vessel, was nearing the completion of her current mission. The First Officer is commanding, Albion's Captain is away for unspecified reasons.
Albion had just completed a five day survey of a 'gaseous anomaly" or nebula, then warped to the next system for a quick planetary survey to end their mission.
Upon entering the system, their sensors detected an unknown vessel. Just as they determined the vessel to be a Klingon D7 cruiser with strange energy readings, they were ambushed by a Romulan bird of prey - the other cruisers was revealed to be a Romulan D7 (Given to the Romulan Star Empire as part of a Treaty with the Klingons - Look it up if you don't believe me!)
The Albion falls prey to both ships and takes a beating as she tries to escape. Quick thinking by the helmsman enables them to escape when she uses the gravity of the massive fourth planet to increase the Ship's velocity ..giving them enough distance and time to make one last desperate warp away before the engines give out completely.

Now the Albion is slowly dying, without hope, and drifting into the nebula they had finished scanning only hours before.
